Jason ("Jay") Roy Leavitt Sr died unexpectedly on May 25th 2023 at the age of 42 in Charlotte, North Carolina where he moved with his devoted wife, Shannon (Lee) Leavitt in 2017 for a fresh start.

Born in 1980 to Carlton and the late Janice (Gamber) Leavitt in 1980, Jay grew up in Carver where he will be laid to rest next to his beloved mother.

Jay suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) as a teenager after a violent assault that nearly ended his life. He lived the next 22 years struggling with the debilitating effects of that TBI. Yet, in spite of daily pain and severe deficits, Jay never ceased to meet each day with purpose and determination without complaint – always putting his best foot forward in spite of the many hardships he faced throughout his life. 

Anyone who had the honor of knowing Jay knew that he was all heart. He had great compassion for animals and was not above rescuing even the tiniest of creatures. He was a loyal and faithful friend –never hesitating to help someone in need. Above all, Jay loved his family – especially his children. His greatest achievement was being a father to Lily (20), Teagan (9), and Jason, Jr. (6). Nothing held a greater importance to him than his three children, and there is nothing he would not have done to protect and care for each one of them.
