Rosehill Cemetery (founded 1864)is an American Victorian-era cemetery on the north side of Chicago, Il. and at 350 acres is the largest cemetery in the City of Chicago.
Its limestone entrance gate was designed by William W.Boyington, the architect of the Chicago Water Tower and the old University of Chicago who is buried in Rosehill.
The cemetery administration building and entry gate was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1975. 

It is the burial place of many well known Chicagoans including Aaron Montgomery Ward, founder Montgomery Ward & Company,
the world's first mail order business, Burr Tillstrom, puppeteer creator of Kukla, Fran & Ollie, William Grant Stratton, Il. Governor (1953-1960), Byron  Laflin Smith, founder The Northern Trust Company,
John G. Shedd, philanthropist, founder The Shedd Aquarium, Oscar F. Mayer, business magnate, founder Oscar Mayer Company and Jack Brickhouse, Hall of Fame sports broadcaster. 
It contains many beautiful and historic monuments.  Rosehill maintains the distinction of being the largest private burial ground of Union Veterans, including 16 Generals, in the State of Il. 

To honor whose who fought for honor and cause, it officially opened its own Civil War Museum in 1995. 
Lot 10, section 100, with its 33 burial plots, is located in the prime part of Rosehill with scenic views, lush greenery and easily accessed by road for motor vehicles or on foot.
