Marie Thayer Oeth, age 68, of Misty Hollow Lane, Beech Mountain, died Sunday,
June 12, 2011. Born April 18, 1943 in Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the
late Phillips and Hortense Lamb Thayer.
For over thirty years she was a
Certified Dental Assistant and then she became a Dental Implant Surgical
Assistant. She lectured at Holy Cross Hospital in Ft. Lauderdale and appeared on
local television speaking about dental implants. After retiring, she wanted to
start a catering company and take up golf. Due to health reasons, both were put
on hold while she fought the beast; we called Cancer the beast. One of her
greatest wishes was for ALL women to get a simple blood test for Ovarian Cancer
detection- called a CA-125.
All cancer centers in this country use it to
monitor ovarian cancer and many family doctors say it is not needed or not
accurate. If she had had her test with her physical 5 months earlier, she would
be alive today as it would have been found at stage 2.
The love
of our entire family has passed and our hearts are broken. I love and I will
forever miss (pumpkin) my great love. Your Husband.
Marie Thayer
Oeth is survived by her husband, Murray A. Oeth, Jr., son John E. Tuggle, sister
Shirley Dunn, nieces Carol Harvey and Phyllis Dunn, nephews John, Russ and Kenny
Dunn, sister-in-law Karen Bond and brother-in-law Jim
Bond.
