Arthur Byrd "Buddy" Adams, Sr., a resident of Headland, died
early Friday morning, March 3, 2011, in a Dothan hospital. He was 73. Memorial
services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Friday, March 4, 2011, in the Holman-Headland
Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Larry Adams officiating. The family will receive
friends from 3:00 until 4:00 P.M. Friday at the mortuary in Headland. In lieu of
flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the
Kidney Foundation , S.E.
Alabama Chapter, P.O. Box 5994, Dothan, AL 36302. Mr. Adams was born in Houston
County, near Webb, son of the late Daniel James Adams and Beatrice Nowell Adams.
He was 1957 graduate of Dothan High School and attended Troy University. Mr.
Adams served his country in the United States Army. He lived in Destin, Florida
before moving to Houston County, between Headland and Webb, in 2005. Mr. Adams
and his wife co-own the Lucky Snapper Grill and Bar in Destin. In earlier years,
he co-founded WDHN and served as station manager of WTVY and was also involved
in real estate transactions.
Mr. Adams was preceded in death by a brother,
Charles Adams. Surviving relatives include his wife, Sue Snell-grove Adams,
Headland; two daughters, Sandra Treadwell and husband, David, Headland; Karan
Foster and husband, Mark, Suwanee, GA; a son, Arthur Byrd Adams, Jr., Headland;
two step-children, Scott Whitehead, Destin, FL; Eddie Whitehead, Bertha
community; two brothers, Robert W. Adams, Wicks-burg, AL; Danny K. Adams and
wife, Nancy, Warner Robins, GA; a sister-in-law, Dovie Adams, Cottonwood, AL;
several grandchildren and step-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; several
nieces and nephews.
